Have you seen the Diet Coke "Sparkle" commercial, featuring quad roller skaters dancing on skates on the boardwalk? Or perhaps you have seen the iPod commercial featuring silhouettes of roller skaters dancing and jamskating to the beat.
Another spotlight on roller skating is now in theaters everywhere - a roller skating movie called "Roll Bounce". And if that is not enough, another movie is filming right now in Atlanta, Georgia called "Jellybeans". Check out a sneak preview of Roll Bounce - Behind the Scenes.
Roller skating is in the spotlight and it is coming back strong. Quad roller skates have been selling like crazy and have been outselling inline skates by leaps and bounds.
Tony Johnson of www.SK8Academy.com, Roller skating coach and instructor, in the Atlanta, GA area has reported that people of all ages are flocking to his roller skating classes. He teaches beginner skaters as well as advanced skaters, some of which started out with his course as beginners themselves. He says,"The phone keeps ringing and the emails keep coming daily from people who are either wanting to learn to roller skate for the first time or to return to it after many years of not roller skating."
Jamskating continues to steal the spotlight with the younger crowd. They can't get enough of the funky, fast-paced, old school beats as they dance, skate, break skate (break dancing on skates), perform acrobatics, gymnastics and whatever else looks cool so long as they can synchronize with the beat of the music. We have a video preview for you if you would like to catch a glimpse of what jamskating is all about.
